Strong roots for flourishing futures

Pumpkin Pie!

We have been continuing with our autumn theme by exploring some seasonal crops like these strange shaped gourds and of course the pumpkin.

Mrs Peters had to use a very sharp knife

and lots of strength to cut open a pumpkin.

We used magnifying glasses to look closely at the seeds and the pumpkin flesh. It was a beautiful orange colour.

We also discovered that Mrs Eite had added pumpkin puree to the playdough this week smelt delicious and made us wonder if we could make a real pumpkin pie.

What a surprise we got when she said yes!

Everyone had a go at mixing and then we waited while the pies cooked in the oven...

We found that pumpkin pie is very sweet to eat!
