ELLINGHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY

The Governing Body has four main targets:
·     Strategic role: Contribute to School Improvement.
·     Critical friend: Monitor and evaluate the schools performance.
·     Ensuring accountability: Ensuring communication between parents, teachers, children, governors and other stakeholders.
·     Working practices: Self Review of Governing Body to ensure effective working practice.

The Governing Body consists of 11 governors, who attend around six full Governing Body meetings a year, although the governors do also attend further meetings; each governor works as a link governor, liaising with teaching staff to discuss curriculum subjects and in addition to this governors form working parties with particular responsibilities. See table below for more details:

BECOME A PARENT GOVERNOR
AT ELLINGHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL

School Governors are people like you.

All schools need governors, people from all backgrounds and of all ages (over 18) who are interested in supporting a local school. You do not need to have a previous personal or working connection with the school. What matters most is that you:

·     are keen to contribute to your school in a voluntary way,
·     want to help improve the education provided for children and young people in your child's school,
·     would bring enthusiasm, commitment and fresh ideas to the work of the school's governing body,
·     can spare time to give to the important role of being a school governor; this may involve attending training which will help in your role as governor.

If you would like to find out more, we look forward to hearing from you, and we’ll be pleased to answer any questions you have about becoming a parent governor at Ellingham Primary School.
