Clubs

 

 

Golf:In the summer term years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to receive free coaching(Lottery funded) from the Mark James academy based at Chessington Golf Centre. 30 children took the opportunity to join this club this term. From Spring 2009 Chessington Golf club visit once a week to work with our year 3 children.

Football:I'm delighted to announce that Mr Paul Legg will now be incharge of the school's football team. Mr Jones will become director of football!!!Paul's first competition proved very successful as we were runners up in the Chessington Community 5 a side tournament our first tournament of 2009.  

Independent Learning: This club is open to all juniors and is an opportunity for them to use the school's resources to learn something of their own choosing. This term we have children researching: The Northern Lights, Spiders and Archaeology in the ICT suite. Two girls are improving their mental maths by playing darts and several are practising ball skills in the hall.

Maths is fun:Parents come with their children to Maths is fun club. We have a wide range of resources like computer games, board games, skittles and darts which help them to practise mathmatical skills while having a laugh!

Country Dancing: We are all looking forward to Kingston's Annual Primary school Folk dancing Festival on Tuesday 7th July 2009 in the grounds of Tolworth Girls' school. The dancing club runs from February to July each year, so look out for the next Club letter if you would like to take part.

Choir: Ellingham school choir meet after school on a Tuesday. On Friday 20th we went to sing at the switching on the the Christmas Tree lights on North Parade, Chessington. We sang a selection of carols and Christmas songs, along with the choir from Castle Hill school. The Mayor of Kingston led us all in a countdown and then the lights came on.

Netball:A regular club exists for year 3 and 4 which is really well attended. After winning the tournament last year, our years 4, 5 and 6 are very hopeful they can carry off the Netball trophy again this year in the Netball Tournament at Tolworth RecreaEllingham Primary Schooltion Centre on 26th March.

 Cross Country: A large number of families, including pets, took part in the first half terms' family cross country run/walk. As a school we finished 2nd out of 5 schools taking part on average over 20 families turned up for each run. The staff were also regular runners!

5-a-side: In October the school took part in a five a side tournament at CCC. We had same good games but a couple of unlucky results meant we finished 7 out of all.

 Yoga: Yoga club is taken once a week for an hour. Children are taught the basics of breathing and performing yoga poses safely and correctly. Physically, yoga enhances flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness. In addition, children's concentration, sense of calmness and relaxation improves.
