Friends of Ellingham

Who are the Friends of Ellingham?

The Friends of Ellingham (formerly Ellingham Parents Association formed in 1980) were formed to provide additional funding to enhance the education of children attending Ellingham Primary School.

Through various events and activities, we hope to create a wider sense of community whilst raising much needed funds for our small school. We hold regular meetings and a number of popular events such as cake sales, the Summer Fair, discos, the Christmas Fair, pamper evenings, our annual Easter egg hunt, an after school swimming club etc...

All parents are automatically members of the Friends of Ellingham. The fund raising is driven by a small committee of dedicated volunteers which meets throughout the year to plan and organise fun events which also raise money to provide ‘extras’ for all the children in the school.

Recent Fundraising Events.

We have recently held the following events:-

Individual class cake sales: raised various amounts for each class.

Christmas Fair – Dec 2009: raised approx £2,350

End of half- term disco – Feb 2010: raised £179.50

Pamper Evening – May 2010: raised £534.78

Summer Fair – July 2010 raised approx £2,260

 Recent Donations to the School.

In 2009, as well as treating the whole school to a trip to the Pantomime at Leatherhead Theatre in December, we donated a total of £2,700 to the class teachers to enable them to purchase materials that would enhance the learning of the children in their class.

So far in 2010, we have organised our annual Easter Egg hunt for all the children and provided each of them with a complimentary easter egg. Sapphire House Team was the winner of this year’s trophy.

We purchased an ipod and transportable docking system (including a PASystem), which has regular use by the school and is also very useful at their Guga-Fit mornings in the playground. 

We recently donated £3,000 to the school to purchase playground equipment, atlases, a cooker, small world outdoor equipment, digital cameras etc..

We have also donated £1,000 to purchase video cameras for each class for the children to use.

For the fourth year running we are paying for the whole school to go to Leatherhead Theatre’s pantomime at Christmas. This year it is Sleeping Beauty and we are treating them to their essential ice-creams in the interval!

It cannot be stressed enough that the success of the fundraising is totally dependent upon the goodwill and support of parents.
