25.2.10 NEWS LETTER
REDEVELOPMENT OF ELLINGHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL
I understand that a number of parents are concerned regarding the lack of information you have received regarding the development of Ellingham Primary School.
I can quite understand this but we also have had little information. I went to a meeting on Monday evening and, basically, Statutory Consultation begins on 19th April. By June 1st all schools will have had public meetings held in them regarding developments, with possible follow up sessions if necessary. At this stage there are no definite plans or any other timescales I can give you.
Believe you me I am as keen as you are to know the options available but all is really on hold until a budget has been set by the Council and this will be in place by the end of the week.
All Residents’ Associations will be kept informed by the local authority.
Yours sincerely,
I.P. JONES
Head Teacher
PRIMARY SCHOOL EXPANSION
The borough are committed to keeping you up to date on the progress with the plans for expanding their schools and thought you might find it useful to read the attached paper which will be on the agenda on the School Admission Forum tonight, Wednesday 24th February. The paper sets out
- The agreed strategy for the permanent expansion of primary schools
- Recent developments towards implementing the strategy for permanent expansion of primary schools and timescales
- Additional places for 2010 in primary schools
- Nursery Education for 3 and 4 year olds
- Building Schools for the future secondary update
- Consultation on the new secondary school in the North of the Borough
The paper provides a useful summary of the council's progress to date. We will keep you informed about matters specifically relating to the schools as the process proceeds.

24.02.10 NEAR MISS TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
Yesterday one of our children escaped by centimetres a very nasty traffic accident due to selfish, unlawful parking.
I am asking all parents to help. If you do see any vehicles (whether occupied or not) parked on zig zag or double yellow lines, at the Ellingham Road entrance, please take the vehicle registration number and report it to the office (do not approach the driver).
I am involving not only the Borough traffic co-ordinator but also our local attached police officer (Jackie Prior) regarding this.
Luckily more and more parents are walking to school which is great from the health and safety angle. However, I am aware a few parents are parking selfishly putting your child in danger.
Thank you for your anticipated help.
